The Importance of Nonverbal Communication

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and in non-verbal communication, this is especially true. More than 70% of what we communicate is not conveyed through words, but through gestures, facial expressions and body posture. But are we paying enough attention to this powerful language?

What is Nonverbal Communication?

Nonverbal communication includes everything we don't say with words, such as:

Posture: Reflects confidence, insecurity or tiredness.

Gestures: They support or contradict what we are saying.

Eye Contact: Transmits sincerity and attention.

Facial Expressions: They reveal emotions such as joy, surprise or anger.

Why It Is Important

1. First Impression: Before you speak, you've already communicated something with your body language. A confident posture and firm eye contact can open doors.

2. Closing Sales: In professional contexts, your posture and gestures can make the difference between winning or losing an opportunity.

3. Personal Relationships: A hug, a smile or even silence can say more than a thousand words.

How to Improve It

Be Aware: Record yourself while you speak or practice in front of a mirror to observe your gestures.
